Let's take a look at these six blunders.
1. Difficulty Meditating - Lack of Self-Accountability
Failing to hold yourself accountable is the first error that can prevent you from meditating. In other words, you don't hold yourself responsible for practicing meditation.
You are the only one who can force you to meditate. You will never be able to start meditating or enhancing your practice until you buckle down and hold yourself accountable.
2. Difficulty Meditating - Expectations Are Too High
Another stumbling block to meditation has unrealistic expectations. If you expected meditation to instantly relieve your tension and make you emotionally stable, you were likely disappointed after your first meditation, leading you to believe that meditation is nonsense.
3. Meditation Difficulties - Incorrect Meditation
A third blunder that may prevent you from meditating is that you attempted the incorrect meditation. Today, many tools are available to assist you in your meditation, each with its own meditation approach.
4. Meditation Difficulties - Relying on Guided Meditations
The fourth error you can make is relying too much on guided meditations. Guided meditations are an excellent way to learn how to meditate while weary.
5. Meditation Difficulties - Avoiding Your Real Issues
A fifth error you can be making is using meditation to avoid dealing with your genuine issues. Put another way, you utilize meditation to avoid dealing with your real problems and feelings. You're not genuinely meditating when you employ meditation in this way.
6. Meditation Difficulty - Actively Attempting to Control Your Thoughts
The last blunder you might be making is attempting to exert control over your thoughts. Many beginner meditators try to categorize their thoughts. When their minds stray, they begin to speak negatively to themselves to regain control of their ideas. When you do this, meditation becomes a terrible experience.
Being Disappointed When "Good Meditation Experiences" Don't Happen
Every time we meditate, our experiences will be unique because our bodily and mental states and living situations are constantly changing.
It is critical to recognize that our experiences will shift due to our tendency to build expectations based on our previous experiences, as described above. Inevitably, some meditative experiences are more pleasant than others, and we may be frustrated if we meditate and do not have those feelings when we do.
In meditation, there are no positive or negative experiences. There is no such thing as an excellent or incorrect way of feeling. "Letting go" and trusting in the natural flow of life are critical components of meditation.
When practicing these meditations, it is vital to remember that the purpose is not to have extraordinary experiences but rather to become more at ease with whatever emerges.
Meditation will become more accessible due to practicing frequently and following these rules, which will translate into easier everyday life — the capacity to flow with whatever life throws at you.
